Help
This section contains some tips to help you get playing Decisionpoint: The Street.
What do I need to play?
Any modern computer with the latest Macromedia Flash plug-in will work for playing
DecisionPoint: The Street. If you don't have the latest Flash plugin, you can download
and install it for free from here.
How do I start?
To play the game, you must first register (it's free) and then log in with the user name
and password you receive during registration. To start, go here.
Are "Resume Game" and "Start New Game" different?
Yes. Resume Game will start the game where you last left off playing (saving the game is
automatic), while Start New Game gives you something people don't often get in life: a
clean, fresh start. If you want to really explore every nook and cranny of DecisionPoint: The
Street, you'll have to play more than once.
I see all kinds of strange marks, like
and on the top
and bottom of the screen. What's wrong?
You may be using an older version of the Flash plug-in. DecisionPoint: The Street requires
Flash version 5 or later, which you can download and install for free from
here.
Whoa. What's happening? I'm in a bedroom?
After a brief introduction, you start the game in your bedroom. In this game, you're
a thirteen-year-old boy who's just started attending a new school in a new town. You
don't have much of a home life, so you need to try to make some friends at school. For
more information on the story and what it means, you can click the "Related Issues" link
at any time -- it's at the bottom left corner of the game window.
Why is everything stretched funny?
DecisionPoint: The Street uses a 'wide-screen' window, like a movie. If you resize this
window, it's possible to end up with some very strange looking images. To get back to
a 'nice' picture, close the window and click "Resume Game" again.
I can't get out of my room!
Some scenes in DecisionPoint: The Street are so wide that you can actually move left and
right within the scenes themselves. In scenes like this, you'll see arrows marked 'Look Left'
and 'Look Right' whenever you move your mouse close to the edges of the screen. When you
see a door, you can click to go through it.
How do I go back where I was?
You can almost always 'back up', or leave the scene you're in to return to the previous
one, by clicking the 'Back to' arrow, which appears when you point your mouse at the bottom
middle of the scene in progress. Sometimes, people won't let you leave until you answer
their questions, though.
Okay, I'm done with school, but Dad won't let me leave the house. Now what?
There's more than one way out of the house, if you're a clever teenager.
What does this have to do with street gangs?
Just like in real life, involvement in a gang lifestyle starts out innocently. The signs
of impending danger are everywhere, even in your happy little school. And once
you start exploring the city at night, things get really interesting...
